Heritage at Risk

Historic England’s Heritage at Risk programme identifies and supports historic buildings, sites and landscapes that are at risk of being lost through neglect, decay or inappropriate development. The annual Heritage at Risk Register provides a national picture of the condition of England’s most valued places and helps to prioritise action where it is most urgently needed.

Working with owners, communities and partners, the programme focuses on finding practical solutions to bring these places back into use and secure their long-term future. By investing in at-risk heritage, we can protect important places, strengthen local communities, and ensure they continue to be valued and enjoyed for generations to come.
